Have you ever struggled with present circumstances that leave you feeling constrained, limited, and powerless? Or with painful memories?
There are different kinds of memories that leave strong imprints in our minds. Our minds become fixated on unwanted thoughts mostly triggered by present events that mirror our painful past. Sometimes our coping skills are negative and we seek to numb or distract ourselves. Other times we try our best to cope by trying to replace the negative thoughts with positive thoughts and rational thinking to fight the storm of negativity but sometimes with minimal success, thus leaving us feeling hopeless and helpless.
What is there to do then?
Consider that the more we push out what is there, the more it pushes us back with equal or more force and it just doesn’t go away.
Being released from psychological and emotional pain requires expanded awareness and acceptance of What Is (factual reality as it is). This often results in gradual dissolution of pain through stillness, presence, and mindfulness. It is about being in Self (you at your core) through detachment from dysfunctional mental dynamics. Mindfulness practice serves this purpose of achieving a pristine mind and experiencing deep inner-peace. In this deep peace within you there is nothing, and from nothing, you get to create anything. You are always a creator, and there is no escaping it. It is inevitable and that is good news. I invite you to create anything for yourself and your life that is worth your time and talents instead of resisting your present circumstances. Become continuously conscious of the nothingness of the present moment so that you can experience the fullness of you as pure potentiality, ready to create a future that would motivate you, inspire you and call you into generative action.
Try these three mindfulness exercises:
- Mindful Breathing: With your eyes closed while sitting and with stillness pay attention to the subtle sound of your breathing and to the gentle movement of your chest contracting and expanding while inhaling and exhaling. Repeat to enjoy the derivative calmness and profound peace.
- Mindful Seeing: Be in the present moment, see attentively every object around you for what it is without engaging in being descriptive. As you observe each item, experience you as the observer at the same time. Enjoy the peace within you.
Mindful Eating: With your eyes closed, place a small piece of tasty food in your mouth and chew on it very slowly with full presence to its flavor and texture. Repeat as you please and enjoy the peace and gratitude within you.
